List:
Here’s my ever-growing list of hikes, backpacking trips, and adventures that are still calling my name. Some are classic bucket-list routes, others are just places that look wild enough to make the long drive, sore legs, and questionable freeze-dried dinners completely worth it.
Still on the list:
• Grand Canyon Rim to Rim to Rim
• Lost Coast Trail
• Rae Lakes Loop
• Cottonwood Lakes to Mt. Langley
• North Fork of Big Pine Creek
• Grand Teton – Teton Crest Trail
There are probably another hundred I could add depending on the day and weather, the western U.S. alone feels endless once you start digging into maps and trail reports.
Some of these trips are about huge views and iconic trails. Others are about remote campsites, alpine lakes, quiet mornings with coffee in camp, and that feeling when the only thing on the schedule is hiking to the next spot before sunset.
A few other adventures high on my radar:
• Wind River Range, Wyoming
• Glacier National Park
• High Sierra Trail
• Canyonlands Needles District
• Backpacking in Banff or Jasper
• More Yosemite miles… always more Yosemite miles
Honestly, one of the best parts of backpacking is that the list never really gets shorter. Every trip usually adds three more places you suddenly “need” to see.
If you’ve done any of these hikes — or have recommendations for trails, hidden gems, scenic camps, or complete sufferfests worth doing — drop them in the comments. I’m always looking for the next adventure.
